Our mission as ministers of health is to continue Jesus' healing ministry through body, mind, and spirit to others in our church community. The Parish Nursing Program believes that through Jesus' healing spirit the program can provide various methods of health education and disease prevention. Such methods are through monthly blood pressure screenings, Health Fairs, monthly health related articles in the church's newsletter, healthy lifestyle promotion via the bulletin board, stress and anxiety management, referrals to local community support groups, and prayer for healing. In addition we sponsor "Caring Notes" by Abbey Press in the Narthex. These pamphlets provide additional information on helping others how to cope with a serious illness, loss of a loved one, the steps of grieving, peer pressure, and coping while a child is in the hospital just to name a few. Our goal is to guide the members of the congregation to become more spiritually and physically healthy.
"When a nurse senses that a person has a medical problem that needs a doctor's attention, his or her encouragement may cause that person to see a doctor sooner."
Rev. Granger E. Westburg, founder and pioneer of Parish Nursing.

Prayer for Healing
"Loving and tender God, touch my heart with hope, touch my mind with clarity, touch my soul with peace, and touch my body with the warmth of your healing presence."
"Grant me courage to face the future, insight to understand life's trials, wisdom to discern how I can touch the lives of others, and the comfort of people who care about me as I reach for your loving hands. In Jesus' name, Amen."
