"Spoke Folk" is in New England!

Spoke Folk is a program of 15-20 year olds (and their adult counselors) providing a unique biking, musical, ministry experience. Based in Minnesota, they have been sharing the gospel in this way for 30 years, usually doing 4-5 tours in different areas of the country each year. Individual tours are comprised of people representing many different states from all over the country. They will share their Christian faith as they present their program that includes music, skits and puppets. Visit their website at www.spokefolk.org for more information.

There are currently 25 youth and adults on the Massachusetts tour. They will begin arriving at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Foxboro, MA, their training site, on Tuesday July 29th and stay through Sunday Aug 3rd. Their training time includes group-building activities, musical rehearsals, and training bike rides. This host church provides a sleeping area and rehearsal space at the church, storage for their bikes and other stuff, and use of the kitchen facilities.

Though Spoke Folk is described as a biking, musical ministry it is most importantly a relational ministry. The participants of the tour form relationships with each other but also with people in the churches they visit. After they leave Foxboro on Sunday August 3rd they will bike to a different church in Massachusetts (and one in RI) each day before returning to Foxboro on Saturday August 9th. They will perform their program at each church, spend time with those who attend their performances, sleep at that church, and then set off in the morning for their next location. Their travels will take them to Woonsocket, RI, Dedham, MA, Needham, Boston (for a special performance at Fanueil Hall Marketplace Wed Aug 6th at 11am), Wellfleet, West Barnstable and Middleboro, MA. They will do their program at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Foxboro on their final day, Sunday August 10th, during worship at 8:30am and 10:00 am.
